چکیده

In this study, effect of biomass share on co-combustion of coal and biomass in a circulating fluidized bed is investigated by previously developed model. SO2 and NOx emission predictions of the model are compared with test results obtained from the laboratory-scale 30 kW (thermal) atmospheric test unit of 0.86 m i.d. and 7 m tall riser data published in the literature. Simulation results show that emission of NOx decreases dramatically from 125 to 79 ppm when mass ratio of rice husk to coal increases from 0 to 30 wt%. Emission of SO2 is found to show a slight increase with the increase of rice husk mass share.

Article history: Received 1 October 2006 Received in revised form 20May 2007 Accepted 20 June 2007 Co-combustion of chicken litter (CL) with coal was performed in a laboratory-scale fluidized bed combustor to investigate the effect of CL combustion on pollutant emissions. The emissions of major gaseous pollutants including CO, SO2, H2S and NO and temperature distribution along the combustor wer...

Dynamic model of NOx emission for a fluidized bed sludge combustor

Sludge incineration in fluidized bed is a very complex process, producing gaseous pollutants (carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrogen oxides (NOx)). The legislative norms need to be respected in spite of variations of sludge in composition and in quantity. The NOx formation, due to lots of chemical reactions from sludge nitrogen, is partly unknown. This paper deals with the design of a dynamic model ...

Mercury emissions during cofiring of sub-bituminous coal and biomass (chicken waste, wood, coffee residue, and tobacco stalk) in a laboratory-scale fluidized bed combustor.

Four types of biomass (chicken waste, wood pellets, coffee residue, and tobacco stalks) were cofired at 30 wt % with a U.S. sub-bituminous coal (Powder River Basin Coal) in a laboratory-scale fluidized bed combustor. A cyclone, followed by a quartz filter, was used for fly ash removal during tests. The temperatures of the cyclone and filter were controlled at 250 and 150 degrees C, respectively...

Theoretical and Experimental Investigation of SO2 Adsorption from Flue Gases in a Fluidized Bed of Copper Oxide

Among the air pollutants, sulfur dioxide has been given special emphasis for posing dangers to the environment. SO2 emissions in the air have harmful effects on human health and the environment. Respiratory diseases and exacerbation of heart diseases are among dangerous symptoms for human health, especially when high concentrations of SO2 are emitted. Therefore, in the present study, a wide var...

Olive Cake Combustion in a Circulating Fluidized Bed

In this study, a circulating fluidized bed of 125 mm diameter and 1800 mm height was used to find the combustion characteristics of olive cake (OC) produced in Turkey. Olive cake alone and olive cake+lignite coal mixtures were burned separately. Various olive cake/lignite coal ratios were tried. A suitable feeding mechanism of olive cake to the bed was developed. On-line concentrations of O2, S...
